Data security through two-factor authentication
TIMOCOM provides the highest possible protection for you and your personal data. To maintain this protection, we are introducing two-factor authentication (2FA). This ensures that only you can access your account, even if third parties know your password. We answer the most frequently asked questions here.

-
What is two-factor authentication?
Two-factor authentication means that when you log in to the TIMOCOM Marketplace, you will have to enter an additional six-digit security code, as well as your password. We will send this to you by e-mail during the login process. By requiring you to enter your password and then a security code, we can ensure the highest level of security for your user account.
-
Why is TIMOCOM introducing two-factor authentication?
TIMOCOM is introducing two-factor authentication because it is a secure method of identity and access management. By requesting a second proof of identity when logging in, we are able to protect your user account against unauthorised access, even if someone else knows your password. This increases security and ensures that sensitive data is better protected against misuse and unauthorised access.

How does two-factor authentication work at TIMOCOM?
The first step in two-factor authentication on the TIMOCOM Marketplace is to enter your login data, consisting of your login e-mail address and password. After clicking “Log in”, you will then be asked to enter a six-digit code. You will receive the required security code simultaneously by e-mail.
The security code will be sent automatically to your login e-mail address when you log in and will be valid for 15 minutes.
After entering the code correctly, you will be taken to the TIMOCOM Marketplace as usual.
By default, a new security code is requested each time you log in. However, you can also opt for us to request a new code every 30 days. To do this, tick the box next to “Trust this browser” when entering the code. If you change your browser (e.g. from Mozilla Firefox to Google Chrome) or log in from a different device (e.g. a smartphone or tablet), a new code will be requested daily. You can switch back to the 30-day cycle by ticking the box.
-
What do I have to do to use two-factor authentication?
Do you have regular access to the inbox of the e-mail address you use to log in? If so, you don’t need to do anything else. The security code will be sent to you automatically. We will inform you in good time when two-factor authentication is launched.
If you do not have regular access to the inbox of your login e-mail address, please change your “Personal e-mail” here.
Alternatively, log in to the TIMOCOM Marketplace, click on the gear icon in the top right-hand corner and then click “Login” in the menu. You can change your “Personal e-mail” in this menu. Enter your e-mail address and then click “Save”. To confirm your new e-mail address, you will receive an e-mail to the previously entered address, which you must confirm. Your new login e-mail address will then be active.
-
How often do I have to enter the security code?
You will be asked to enter the security code each time you log in to the TIMOCOM Marketplace – regardless of whether you are logging in from a PC, tablet or smartphone. The code will be sent automatically to your login e-mail address.
However, you can also opt for us to request a new security code every 30 days. To do this, tick the box next to “Trust this browser” when entering the code.
If you log in to the TIMOCOM Marketplace in a different browser, regardless of the device you are using, a new code will be requested. This is because your login information is stored in the cookies of the respective browser. If your company, for example, deletes the browser settings every day, you will have to enter a new security code every day.
-
When will two-factor authentication start for me?
We are gradually switching all TIMOCOM members to two-factor authentication. We will inform you of the exact start date in good time.
You can choose to switch to two-factor authentication already. This is very easy to do in the settings of your TIMOCOM user account. Click here to access the settings menu. Alternatively, log in to the Marketplace, click on the gear icon in the top right-hand corner and then select “Login” from the menu bar. You will then have the option to switch to two-factor authentication.
-
Which devices do I need for two-factor authentication?
You do not need an additional device for two-factor authentication on the TIMOCOM Marketplace. The required security code will be sent to your login e-mail address.
-
Why does two-factor authentication only work by e-mail?
In order to verify your identity separately from your password, we request the second factor (in this case the six-digit security code) via a different channel than the TIMOCOM Marketplace. This ensures that it is actually you logging in and that you have access to the second verification factor.
We currently only have the option to send the second factor by e-mail. However, we are already working on ways to offer you further options (e.g. via an authentication app). You will receive further information on this in due course.
-
What should I do if I do not receive a security code?
If you do not receive a security code, it may be because you are using a different e-mail address to the one you normally use to log in to the TIMOCOM Marketplace. Please make sure you are accessing the e-mail account that you use to log in. Please also check your spam and junk folders. If you still do not receive an e-mail with a security code, please contact our Customer service.
