Searching for a solution
Techno-Druck Kft. was founded in 1991 to tackle the logistical issues involved in international and domestic road freight transportation and freight management. The company has made it its mission to always find solutions to the problems and tasks its partners face, which is why it has an extensive range of road transportation and freight forwarding services for transporting pallet, bulk and sensitive goods. The company is also GMP+B4-certified and has all the equipment needed for transporting raw material for animal feed and recycling materials.
Techno-Druck’s subcontractors can provide any type of vehicle required to fulfil the customer’s wishes – from 1.5-tonne trucks to tippers, extra-heavy vehicles, oversized vehicles and ADR-approved vehicles, no logistics solution is off the table. Techno-Druck uses a satellite tracking system in all of its trailers so that it always knows where they are. What was the most time-consuming part of freight management 25 years ago?
According to Tamás, near enough everything was unimaginably slow and cumbersome compared to how things are today. ‘Not having telematics, a business management system, digitised records or a freight exchange made getting the job done a lot slower and a lot more difficult’, he says. ‘It was perfectly normal to sell or search for freight over the phone. We often had no idea where our goods were exactly, how long the journey from A to B would take and when the goods would reach their destination.
TIMOCOM launched the digital freight exchange in 1997. What were the challenges that Techno-Druck faced back then?
Why did you put your faith in TIMOCOM and why were you one of the first companies to decide that the freight exchange was right for you? ‘Even back then, we saw the potential in TIMOCOM and the wealth of benefits for us as a company’, explains Tamás. ‘Obviously we ran into some challenges when we first started using TIMOCOM – the Internet wasn’t reliable in those days, for instance, and the selection of partners available in the system wasn’t as large as it is now.’
Tamás is in no doubt about what the biggest benefit has been for his company: the amount of time saved. ‘It’s perfectly normal to be able to tell the driver at the start of an export journey how the transfer and import journey will go. Today's market conditions make it impossible to turn a profit if you don’t have efficient processes. I don’t want to give exact percentages, but we wouldn’t stand a chance of reducing vehicle downtimes and empty trips to a minimum without TIMOCOM. What makes TIMOCOM so special is just how large its network is, along with the fact that TIMOCOM screens its partners before letting them join. I’m sure that this also significantly reduces the number of unpaid invoices that can’t be chased up.’
TIMOCOM will be celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2047. What would Techno-Druck like to say to TIMOCOM regarding the next 25 years?
In Tamás’ view, TIMOCOM doesn’t need to be reminded about the importance of innovation and continuous improvement, as the company has always been a leader in this field. ‘We’d like to see partners who have a track record of not paying invoices or being unreliable when it comes to paying them made visible so that we can work even more efficiently.’
